EM Fanmile 2012

From 9th June through to 1st July 2012, the ‘Straße des 17. Juni’ (17th June Street) between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate became the largest football fan mile in Europe. The matches broadcast there, notably those with German participation plus the semi-finals and the final, attracted 2.45 million football fans, who came together to celebrate a great festival of football. The central structure was a 3-tower grid comprised of Stageco’s proprietary ‘Meilenstein’ trussing with an integrated band roof deployed for the very first time in a modular construction system in combination with Layher Allround scaffolding. The set was complemented with custom-designed double video towers.
The greatest challenge was executing the exclusive design by Jens Meinecke in the form of moveable curved side stage wings, as well as keeping to the tight schedule for assembly and dismantling. Finally, after incorporating 184 tons of materials, including around 500 metres of aluminium trussing, the stage was set for the matches to begin.
